How is it almost the end of August already? That means it’s almost time to grab your jumpers and get ready for Pumpkin coffee season (even though I’m more of a caramel hot chocolate kinda gal). I also need to take down my Happy Birthday sign in the kitchen.
If ever there was a time to reminisce about being a teen, it’s the year I enter the last year of my 20s. Now you may be wondering why I’m bringing this up, glad you asked! (You probably didn’t but for the purposes of this post, let’s say you did). The reason is that Stay for Tomorrow‘s new single Lipstick Lips gives me that feeling. You may be thinking ‘where have I heard this band name before?’ (I’m making a lot of assumptions, aren’t I? Oh well….). The reason you have heard the name before is that we’ve featured them before with their single Prison Living. You can read that review here. Anyway, back to the review. I do have a habit of wandering off from the point, sorry about that!
Lipstick Lips “tells a story of a self-assertive person retaliating at their ex with a loud, middle-finger message that they will never find anyone that compares to them. Despite their best attempts to move on, anyone else they find is nothing special.” – Stay For Tomorrow.
This story really comes through with catchy lyrics, awesome melodies, and amazing riffs. This band would not feel out of place at a Slam Dunk festival, and I can see them actually playing there. Think Blink 182 but Scottish, however, they still have their own distinctive sound. (The email I got did say FFO Blink 182…). This track makes me tap my feet and smile and kinda makes me wanna start a friendly mosh pit. It’s Scottish Pop Punk at its finest. This song is to put it quite simply – BLOODY BRILLIANT. God, I sound a bit like that ginger wizard who I won’t name because I don’t want to get into trouble.
In short, you NEED to go and check this single, and the band out. Lipstick Lips is out TODAY (26th August 2022 – correct at time of writing).
