If you’ve been following us for a while, you know we always LOVE a Lana Wild feature. So, we were delighted when Lana agreed to chat to us about all things music (and of course Christmas).
What was the first song you ever wrote, and what was it about?
The first proper song I ever wrote was called “Someday, Somehow” and I’m pretty sure it was about a girl I liked (I was 13 but some things never change!)
Is there a specific song that holds a particularly deep meaning for you?
God, there are so many. Because this is Christmas I’ll choose “River” by Joni Mitchell – not only is it one of the best songs of all time, but it reminds me of being a kid. My mom would always play Joni when she was cooking or cleaning, and “Blue” is her favourite album. 30 years later it’s still one of mine because of her, and I’d be lying if I said it didn’t help shape me.
Which of your performances has been your favourite over the last couple of years?
Either Bannermans in Edinburgh supporting my friends The Gallowgate Murders (an excellent Irish punk band, check em out) in 2022 – it was sold out, packed to the rafters, by far the loudest crowd I’ve played to in recent years, or Bloc in Glasgow last year supporting my other wonderful friend Chloe Hawes (fab solo artist from Manc) which was also a full room and a LOT of fun!
I know you’re a huge Frank Turner fan – which song would you want to cover with him? (It doesn’t have to be one of his).
I am! I love Frank. I’d love to cover either “Untainted Love” or “Recovery” by him, or maybe something by Springsteen. I was lucky enough to open for Frank in a previous life and it’s still one or my favourite shows I’ve ever played!
Can we expect to see a new E.P or Album from you in 2025?
I very much hope so! New music is happening – I am on a self imposed hiatus right now due to my health, but I’ve been cooking! So watch this space.
Christmas cake – yay or nay?
Yay, if its done right (which is rare!) otherwise avoid, and I’ll take Yule Log instead!
Do you have a specific day when you put your tree up?
The tree at my mom’s house goes up on the 14th of December, and my own one goes up usually around now!
If you had to buy a present for one famous person (dead or alive) who would it be, and what would you get them?
That’s a really great question! Alive I think Hunter Schafer (because she seems super nice) and I think I’d get her like a cute plushie or watercolour paints.
What’s your favourite Christmas carol?
Silent Night. No contest, dude! But my favourite Christmas song is actually Fairytale Of New York (call me basic if you want) but the Pogues could write a song!
